Dear Visitor,

I feel like I owe the Sims community an explanation for my inactivity. In short, I have lost interest in The Sims. When I started playing The Sims so many years ago, I was young and naïve, simply enjoying the game as it was. Expansion packs and custom content followed. Before I knew it, I had made a few of my own creations (mostly skins). Some of these old relics are still on my website.

I started by submitting my skins to The Sims Resource. Much to my surprise, they achieved relative popularity. So I opened a Tripod site and uploaded my skins and a few objects. Over time I lost interest in skins and became fascinated with the potential of objects in The Sims. I thank the brilliant individuals in the community who made object hacking more accessible. Don Hopkins, Tom van Dijk, and James Sausville come to mind.

Wild popularity of the Security Guard effectively killed my Tripod site, and I had to hold a fundraiser to pay for a new web host. Although money has been tight, donors have always come through to keep this site afloat. But the rate of donations has decreased recently, and money is likely to become a problem. However, I assure you that I am committed to keeping this site open as long as possible. If you have found my site useful or to your likening, I ask you to consider a donation so that others can continue to enjoy this site too.

My Sims journey has come to an end. I drifted away from the game about a year ago, and haven’t done much with it since. I played and hacked The Sims 1 extensively for a few years, and those were really good times. I became burned out on The Sims 1, and The Sims 2 just didn’t capture my attention like the original did so many years ago. Anymore, I don’t even have the time to make stuff if I wanted to.

I hope that you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find here. If you enjoy it, please spread the word and perhaps think about a donation. Except during vacations, I still check the website email almost every day, so I usually respond to questions and donations within a business day. Please don’t ask me how to fix your game, because I can’t peer onto your computer to ascertain the cause. But I love to hear your comments, they really make my day.

Happy Simming,
~ OddSim
